Small Group Book Club - July

Our next small group book read will be Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: Our Year of Seasonal Eating by Barbara Kingsolver and Family

Date and Location to be determined.

We will be exploring Barbara Kingsolver’s book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: Our Year of Seasonal Eating.  When Kingsolver and her family moved from suburban Arizona to rural Appalachia, they took on a new challenge: to spend a year eating a locally-produced diet, paying close attention to the provenance of all they consumed. Concerned about the environmental, social, and physical costs of American food culture, they hoped to recover what Kingsolver considers our nation's lost appreciation for farms and the natural processes of food production.

The Chicago Tribune calls the book is “part hybrid…part memoir…part call to action, part education, and part recipe collection that makes an important contribution to the chorus of voices calling for change.”

Some books have been pre-purchased. The books are also available via kindle and in local libraries.

Our book discussions offer a place of community as we explore topics of the day through various lenses.  Even as we offer some structure our discussions are free flowing and always have places for our own personal stories.
