"Our Christian objective is to promote the welfare and interests of First Parish Church and the wider community through cooperation, effort, and good fellowship."
Anyone is welcome to join the Evening Guild. Our members are from many different denominations.
We established and continue to produce the Community Calendar. Our biggest fundraising activity is the Friendship Village Fair which is the first Saturday in November every year. The vast majority of the money raised (85-90%) goes to help fund the First Parish Church and other community charities. We work with the school nurse at Berlin Elementary to help needy families in town, and sponsor many other charitable efforts. This Fall, we look forward to selling "A Cat's Meow" as a fundraising event.
Evening Guild meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM in Central Hall (except in January, July and August), and every other month begins the meeting with a pot luck supper at 6:30 PM.
Have you ever wondered what Day Guild was all about? True, Day Guild does, sewing and canning for the Friendship Village Fair, but we do a lot more too! We bake for Berlin's Meals on Wheels; at the holidays we pack and deliver goodie boxes for homebound residents; we bake and sell hot cross buns at Easter. And yes, some members knit baby afghans for the Pine Ridge Lakota Reservation (http://friendsofpineridgereservation.org).
But we are always open to new ideas. Are you crafty? Or would you like to come help, and maybe learn something new?
This year, those of us not gifted with a needle are going to try some new craft items for the Fair glycerin soaps, and perhaps gel candles.
We would love to have any join who might be interested. Why not come to a meeting and check us out. For more information, contact Kathy Hill Badeau.
