
First Parish Church offers many opportunities to assist in its activities. Participation on committees is a good way to get to know other members well and to really become a part of what it means to be a Church. Many committees need occasional volunteers for special projects. Elected committees are as follows:

Church Council Committee is the governing body of the church. Its members meet the 3rd Monday of every month to make major decisions about how the church lives out its mission. This includes matters relating to care and use of our buildings, as well as general program issues. Contact the Clerk or Moderator.
Deacons assist in worship by providing ushers and serving Communion. They foster fellowship and encourage membership in the church. They also assist the minister by visiting and sending cards to members who are unable to get to church.
Religious Education Committee supports the education ministry of the church, planning and securing teachers for Sunday School, choosing curriculum, and planning for and assisting in youth and adult ministry. Contact R.E Committee or R.E.Director.
Outreach Committee sponsors activities in support of people in need, and provides financial support for the Church's mission work in Berlin, Massachusetts, the USA, and the world through the Mission budget.
Music Committee assists in all aspects of the music program of the First Parish Church, including the senior choir, junior and children's choirs, special music, special musical services, and maintenance of instruments.
Stewardship Committee encourages members to be servants of God and the Church through contributions of time, talents and money. It prepares the annual budget for approval by the Church, manages financial campaigns, and oversees expenditures.
Trustees have charge of investing money and bequests that have been made to the church.
Property Committee makes decisions and recommendations regarding the care and maintenance of the buildings which comprise First Parish (the Meeting House, the Children's Church, and Parish Hall) and the Parsonage. Contact the Property Committee.
Memorial Committee administers the First Parish Memorial Fund, money received in memory of members and friends, which is used in consideration of the wishes of the giver or the person in whose memory the money is given, and in harmony with the welfare of the Church.
Historical Committee encourages interest in the history of the Church through articles, displays, special services and programs, and advises other Church bodies when capital improvements, repairs and maintenance projects are planned which may impact the historical features of the Church.
Pastor / Parish Care Committee helps to maintain a harmonious working relationship between the people of the Church, the Minister, and the Church committees. Contact PPCC.
Leadership Development Committee encourages church members to improve and broaden their leadership skills. They seek and prepare nominations for officers and committees.
Nursery School Board of Directors oversees the operation of the First Parish Nursery School.
